While patrolling near the 100 block of Wilshire, SMPD officers were flagged down by a resident who was following a suspect dressed in all black that she witnessed looking through vehicles and trying bicycle locks in a secured garage located near the 700 block of Ocean Avenue. Officers stopped the suspect near 2nd Street and during a search discovered multiple plastic bags containing a white substance believed to be methamphetamine along with a small metal hammer. Cedric Vandeweghe from Riverside, CA was arrested for 11377(a)H&S – Possession of Meth and 466pc – possession of burglary tools.
Cedric Vandeweghe was arrested last November at the CVS on Lincoln Blvd as reported in Crime Watch.
