On Thursday, October 8th
SMPD Officers were dispatched to Hotchkiss Park regarding a call about an arsonist. A Witness spotted a small fire during his exercise routine and quickly extinguished it. He then noticed an individual walking away from a pile of pine needles that were also lit on fire. The Witness attempted to extinguish it and called SMPD. Lucas P Payton was arrested on a 451 (d) PC- Arson to property and is awaiting his next court date on a $75,000 bail.
