SMPD officers responded to the area of Main and Ashland for a vehicle reported stolen out of LAPD’s jurisdiction. Officers located the 2022 BMW M8 convertible traveling northbound on 2nd Street. It was determined that not only was the driver of the vehicle not the registered owner, he was not in possession of a valid California driver’s license and there was a loaded firearm in the trunk of the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and the handgun, along with additional bullets was booked as evidence.
