On Feb. 27 at approximately 5 p.m.
Officers responded to the 1500 block of Euclid for a suspect reportedly lighting a palm tree on fire. Upon arrival officers detained one female fitting the description provided by the reporting party and contacted SM Fire to extinguish the tree that was still on fire. Based on the officers’ investigation and statements from multiple witnesses, Elizabeth Varner was booked for Arson and transported to the Santa Monica Jail. Varner was found to be in possession of matches and lighters at the time of her arrest.
