On February 26 at 11:49 a.m.

Officers responded to the 1000 Block of 4th Street for a Fight in Progress call. A suspect description was provided by City Dispatchers along with information from the reporting party that a victim was repeatedly being kicked in the head. While en route to the location, officers observed an individual matching the description provided in an adjacent alley. David Rhodes Donovan Jr. was detained by officers pending their investigation. Based on video provided by a witness, a fight ensued in the alley over property. Donovan repeatedly struck the victim even after the victim stopped fighting back. Donovan was transported to the Santa Monica Jail and booked for Assault Likely to Cause Bodily Injury. Donovan remains in police custody pending a March 15 court date.
