On October 13, at approximately 9 p.m.
SMPD officers were dispatched to 6th Street and Wilshire Blvd. regarding a disturbance of the peace. Upon arrival officers located a male adult swinging a black children’s wooden baseball bat vertically on the back of another adult male. Officers separated all parties on the south sidewalk in the 500 block Wilshire Blvd. and gathered information on what lead to the assault. Witnesses confirmed that gentleman with the bat was defending himself against Phillip Lake who had attempted to strike the man with an unopened glass bottle of Korbel. Lake was placed under arrest for 245(a)(1) PC- assault with a dangerous weapon and 243(a) PC- battery. Bail was set at $30,000.
