On October 3 at approximately 9:10 p.m.
Officers were flagged down by employees at Casa Martin Restaurant near the 1600 Block of Ocean Avenue regarding an assault. An employee reported that a female suspect arrived at the location intoxicated and requesting service. When refused by staff, the suspect began throwing restaurant items and ultimately assaulted an employee. Video evidence of the altercation was collected by SMPD staff and the suspect, Karmiya Amarise, was arrested and booked for 245(a)(1) – Assault with a deadly weapon (other than a firearm), 243(a) PC – Battery, 584(b)(2)(a) PC – Vandalism and 647(f) PC – Drunk in Public.
