On October 14, at 11 p.m.
SMPD officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Ocean Ave near Crescent Bay Park for a report of approximately 10 individuals engaged in a physical altercation with sticks. Additional dispatched information included a report of a male striking parked vehicles with a stick. Due to the large number of potential suspects, multiple officers responded to the scene. Multiple victims and witnesses approached officers and provided statements indicating that one individual with a metal pole had assaulted a bystander and vandalized several parked cars. Officers detained Javier Hernandez-Osorio who was subsequently placed under arrest for 245 (a)(1) PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon and 594 (b)(1)PC - Vandalism.
