On January 23, at about 1:58 a.m.

While patrolling the 500 block of Santa Monica Blvd. officers saw a bicyclist riding without headlight and holding on to a second bike as he rode. Officers stopped the subject for the violation; the subject immediately got off the bike holding a metal pipe in his hand. The subject admitted to having warrants for his arrest and to be on parole. The subject stated he had the pipe to protect himself while out on the street. The subject was taken into custody.

Jonathan Everett Locke, 44, from Los Angeles was arrested for possession of a sap or similar weapon, operating a bike without a headlight and warrants. Bail was set at $40,000.
