# Defining the family

In response to letter to the editor, published Monday, Aug. 18, “’Yes Vote on Prop. 8 is a vote for God,” I think \[the author\] owe\[s\] an apology to all who had to go through life without a “mom or dad” and turned out to be decent human beings anyway. \[The author\] also owe\[s\] an apology to all who raised them. If you wish all others to be on God’s side, why not try that yourself? Do not speak of “war with those” and do not adopt a tone that betrays your hatred of all who do not share your view of the world.

You are wrong, by the way, when you say “the family \[as you define it\] has been with us from the beginning of time.” You obviously haven’t read enough history and anthropology.
