Dispose of those trees properly

City officials want to encourage residents to drop off their Christmas trees at one of a handful of public parks and the Southern California Disposal Transfer Station so they can be collected and turned into mulch.

Don’t try and stuff them into a green yard-waste bin or dump them in the alley. Drop the trees off at these local parks:

• Clover Park: 25th Street and Ocean Park Boulevard

• Douglas Park: Chelsea Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard

• Christine Emerson Reed Park: Lincoln Boulevard and California Avenue

• Hotchkiss Park: Fourth and Strand streets

The Transfer Station is located at 1837 24th Street  (enter from Michigan and Cloverfield Boulevard) and is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
