The Bayside District Corp. will be hosting two public meetings Feb. 12 to discuss an improvement plan for Downtown Santa Monica.

The first meeting for property and business owners is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Room of the Santa Monica Public Library, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. The second meeting for residents and community members is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room of the library.

The Bayside District Corp., a nonprofit organization that manages the downtown area, including the popular Third Street Promenade, has been reviewing options to make the area cleaner, more inviting and more attractive. Through this 18-month process, Bayside and its partners have developed a plan for a new improvement district that would raise assessments on Downtown properties to fund new projects and programs. The proposed district would encompass all of Downtown bounded by Seventh Street, Wilshire Boulevard, Ocean Avenue and the I-10 Freeway.

In addition to the Feb. 12 meetings, those interested in sharing their opinions may participate in the process by taking a five-minute online survey at downtownsm.com.

Participants who complete the online survey will be entered to win a $100 gift certificate to a Downtown Santa Monica restaurant.
