# Downtown intersection closed due to serious car crash

The intersection of 4th and Colorado is closed in Downtown Santa Monica after a serious traffic accident sent one man to the hospital.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, a car hit a pedestrian in the intersection at about 3:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

While the initial call went out as a hit and run, SMPD said the driver actually stayed at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation. They said no student from Pali High was involved but the area would be closed for several hours while they continued to investigate.
