Drag Bingo Fundraiser to Support Trans Equity Scholarship Fund June 5
A drag bingo fundraiser will take place Thursday, June 5, from 6:30-9 p.m. at Solidarity restaurant to benefit the Trans Equity Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance for legal name and gender marker changes in California.
The all-ages event will be held on the back patio of Solidarity, located at 1414 Lincoln Boulevard. Miss Barbie-Q and Mini Horrorwitz will co-host the evening, guiding participants through 10 rounds of competitive bingo.
According to organizers, the Trans Equity Scholarship Fund is currently depleted with over 50 transgender individuals on the waiting list. The number is expected to rise into the hundreds as political and social attacks continue to escalate against the transgender community.
The scholarship fund helps transgender and gender non-conforming people navigate the high costs associated with legal documentation changes in California. Organizers describe the work as "tangible, urgent, and life-saving."
Ticket options include $25 for one bingo card per round, providing 10 total cards and 10 chances to win gift card prizes. A $60 ticket provides three cards per round for all 10 rounds, totaling 30 cards and tripling participants' chances to win.
Organizers emphasize the dual purpose of the fundraiser: raising critical funds while creating joy, connection and resistance through drag performance, laughter and community support. The event aims to provide both financial assistance and community solidarity during what organizers describe as "a dark and dangerous time for trans people."
The evening promises drag performances, prizes and community engagement as participants compete in traditional bingo with a drag twist. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 6:30 p.m., with bingo continuing until 9 p.m.
All proceeds from the event will directly support the Trans Equity Scholarship Fund's mission to assist transgender individuals with legal documentation costs. The fundraiser represents both practical support and community celebration in response to ongoing challenges facing the transgender community.
