DUI arrests down

A total of 102 people were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Los Angeles County over the Christmas weekend, a significant decrease from last year when the holiday was celebrated over a four-day weekend, the California Highway Patrol announced Monday.

A total of 102 people were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Los Angeles County over the Christmas weekend, a significant decrease from last year when the holiday was celebrated over a four-day weekend, the California Highway Patrol announced Monday.

Between 6:01 p.m. Thursday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, 102 people were picked up for driving under the influence in Los Angeles County, compared to 251 last year. Statewide, there were 658 DUI arrests, compared to 1,104 last year.

There were no traffic-related fatalities in Los Angeles County this weekend, compared to two during the same time last year. Statewide, there were four fatalities, a dramatic drop from last year’s 22.
