On December 8, 2019 at approximately 2:45 a.m.
Officers responded to the Bayside Hotel located in the 2000 block of Ocean because a male subject was fighting with hotel security. Upon arrival officers observed the hotel security guard and the suspect on the ground in a struggle. The suspect had set off the fire alarm and was refusing to leave. Officers attempted to gain control of the suspect but he refused to stop moving and kicking. He continually attempted to break away from the officers’ grip. He refused to comply with all commands. Other units arrived on scene and were able to gain physical control of the suspect’s arms and legs in order to handcuff him. Matthew Winton Davenport, 41, from Florida, was arrested for resisting arrest, public intoxication, activating a false alarm and tampering with fire alarm equipment. Bail was set at $10,000.
