*By Bob Hausenbauer Proprietor, Ocean Park Omelette Parlor ‘The good times are over’ Editor:*

In direct response to Beverly Abrams’ editorial (SMDP, April 3). Beverly, you are lacking in a sense of humor and you were clueless to the ads’ content. Yes, omelets are French too! What is fair in competition? The owner of Acadie Creperie directly competes with my business at the only city-sponsored farmer’s market that allows for such grand casual food service.

Is it fair that the department of economic development and resource management (which controls the farmer’s market organization) will not let the same occur on Second St., (Acadies’ front yard) on Wednesday morning?

Is it fair that Main Street businesses are the sacrificial lambs of that food court/carnival disguised as a farmer’s market?

No Beverly, I am not upset with the French. If I have offended any members of the international community or my friends, I am deeply sorry. All nations involved appear to be protecting their own interests.

No. I am upset with the city and the city-invited casual, ALL CASH, businesses sucking the lifeblood out of a once prosperous business district. It is my opinion that I am being denied process by the city and Main Street merchants have no genuine representation.

Think about it — the department of economic development sponsoring a retail and food court of outside vendors that don’t even have storefronts on Main Street in one of the cities’ own business districts. Who is paying the assessments here? Their carnival (AKA farmer’s market) sucks up every parking space in the business district on Sunday — once the most prosperous day for ALL the businesses on the block.

Time for that basic economics course. My advice to your friend at Acadie Creperie is to is to get a storefront on Main Street! There are plenty ! But they are more than $75 a day. Acadie won't be angry, enjoy the CASH!

Beverly, see you at the carnival. Pray for peace.
