On October 2, at approximately 11:10 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 600 block of Pico Boulevard in regards to a battery. Upon arriving, the officer was met by the victim and she stated that for the past year she and the subject, later identified as Marcie Monroe, 50, of Santa Monica, have had an ongoing dispute. Monroe and the victim both live in the same apartment complex, and on this particular day Monroe was inside the laundry room when the victim attempted to enter the room. The door was locked and when the victim asked Monroe to unlock the door, she refused. After multiple requests were made, an argument ensued. After the argument, Monroe walked up to her apartment and stood in the doorway as the victim walked toward her screaming and yelling. In what Monroe described as self-defense, she sprayed dog repellent in the victim's eyes. When the officer contacted the victim, he noticed that the left side of her face was red and swollen and she complained of pain to her eyes and face. Monroe was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon. Bail was set at $50,000.
