Learn about the latest fashions and dine in Beverly Hills all while supporting a Santa Monica cancer research center.

The John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary will hold its annual membership luncheon and fashion show on Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. The reception will begin at 11 a.m., lunch at 12 p.m.

John Wayne Cancer Institute breast cancer patient Lisa Bronson will be the recipient of the 2004 Ellen Cooperman “Angel” Award. Bronson, whose cancer was discovered during a routine mammogram, allowed “Lifetime Television’s Speaking of Women’s Health” television series to record every phase of her care.

“I feel so strongly about doing everything I can to ensure that women schedule regular mammograms, that I allowed television cameras to record very private moment,” Bronson said. “If it saves the life of just one woman, it will have been worth it.”

“Speaking of Women’s Health” will receive the Auxiliary’s first-ever “Public Service Award” for its ongoing dedication to educating women to make informed decisions about their health, well being, and personal safety, officials said.

Actress Donna Mills will be the luncheon special guest host. Featured during the luncheon will be fashions from the spring/summer 2005 collections of Richard Tyler, St. Pucchi, Hanna Harnetll, and David Tupaz Couture. Also included will be jewels by Sculpture to Wear, Moo Roo Handbags, Nicole Miller Footwear, and Richard Tyler footwear. Actor Mark McCraw, brother of Tim, will emcee the show.

The John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary was founded in 1982 when two women who had been treated for breast cancer at the institute pledged to help win the fight against the disease. They asked their friends to join their campaign and from the original nucleus of 14 women, the Auxiliary has grown to more than 800 members. Proceeds raised at all events support the John Wayne Cancer Institute, one of the world’s foremost cancer research centers, providing funds for research projects, equipment, and fellowships. Since inception, the Auxiliary has raised more than $12 million.

Tickets are $125 each, which includes annual membership dues. For information about the luncheon, call (310) 829-8324 or visit www.jwci.org.
