Looking for a parking spot in Santa Monica can be a headache sometimes, but now relief might be as close as your smart phone.

City Hall has launched a new mobile phone-friendly map that provides parking availability information for Santa Monica’s 33 Downtown and beach-side parking facilities.

The site uses Global Positioning System technology to indicate where the closest and least populated parking lots would be.

The parking map is the first in a wave of information about Santa Monica services, facilities and resources that should be available for phones this spring, city officials said.

The parking map is available online at www.smgov.net/mobileparkingmaps.
