DAR: Each year, the Santa Monica Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), chooses a cause and organizes a phantom fundraiser to support that need. This year, the focus was on local first responders—specifically, the Santa Monica Fire Department. Santa Monica Chapter, DAR Fundraising Chairman Margo Pepe states, “We are honored to support our local Santa Monica Firefighters Relief Fund. I can speak from first-hand experience; they are there for us when we need them most.” The Santa Monica Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, was organized on May 17, 1906, and seeks to follow the guidelines of the National DAR as a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Members are all lineal descendants of those who supported the cause of independence in the Revolutionary War. For more information, contact regentsantamonica@gmail.com.
