Rainstorms Monday brought mudslides and debris flows to recovery work zones along Topanga Canyon Boulevard/State Route 27 and Pacific Coast Highway in the Palisades Fire burn area.
The 3.6-mile stretch of SR-27 between PCH and Grand View Drive was closed after crews identified at least eight locations where debris flows blocked the roadway.
Monday's storms also damaged a section of wall on northbound PCH just north of Porto Marina Way, reducing the highway to one lane at that location. Mud and debris flow also narrowed northbound PCH to one lane just south of SR-27.
Motorists were advised to plan alternative routes and avoid unnecessary travel during rainstorms. Drivers are urged to check weather alerts before heading out, use headlights and wipers in rain, expect delays and never drive through moving water.
