# Gambling on charity

Everyone’s a winner at the annual casino night benefit for the Santa Monica Family YMCA.

Las Vegas-style gambling, including a night at the races, will be the order of the day when the Santa Monica Y’s Men’s Club hosts the Seventh Annual Casino Night to benefit youth programs at the Santa Monica Family YMCA. The event will take place on Friday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Santa Monica Family YMCA.

The $25 tax-deductible donation will give attendees casino chips to blackjack, roulette and craps, as well as valuable prizes. This year’s event also will include parimutual-style betting on horse racing. The highlight of the evening is a silent auction featuring a variety of gifts. Free food and a no-host bar also will be available. Attendees can purchase 10 tickets for $200.

The Santa Monica Evening Y’s Men and Santa Monica Breakfast Y’s Men will collaborate on the event in an effort to improve the future of the Santa Monica Family YMCA, primarily in the area of youth programs. Last year’s event raised nearly $15,000 part of which was used to resurface the playground of the YMCA’s Camp Big Bear, as well as providing for Camp Big Bear scholarships for underprivileged youth.
