The Los Angeles Asian and Tribal Art Show will be held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Saturday and Sunday. The show will feature a wide selection of internationally renowned art dealers and galleries specializing in antique and contemporary Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Central South Asian) and Tribal (African, New Guinea and The Americas) art.

Two contemporary art exhibitions will also be on display. One will feature works of noted craftsman Jon Eric Riis. His tapestries utilize metallic and silk thread, often embellished with freshwater pearls, crystal and coral beads, and have been displayed in major museums including the MET. Riis will unveil a new selection of entirely new beadworks and his trademark tapestry coats.

The second exhibition, curated by the George Billis Gallery, will feature a group show of prominent Asian artists working in oil, latex and mixed media paintings and sculpture.

An informative slide lecture series will provide an opportunity for the general public to meet with and address questions to prominent art media as well as notable art and history experts. A second, less formal set of Dealer/Gallery Talks will allow visitors to meet and discuss with the exhibitors.

The Los Angeles Asian & Tribal Art Show will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. General admission is $12 per person. For more information, call (310) 455-2886, or visit www.caskeylees.com.
