St. Monica’s girls’ basketball team toppled El Segundo, 49-28, in a non-league game on Saturday.
The Mariners were led by senior Kayla LaCour’s defensive play. She was able to limit El Segundo’s star guard Lauren Sato to 12 points. Cory Laguardia led the Mariners with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Monique Boe added 13 points and seven boards.
The win improves the Mariners’ record to 10-14 overall and 3-2 in league. The win gave St. Monica four victories in the previous five games.
Next for St. Monica is a Camino Real League matchup with Mary Star of the Sea on the road on Thursday. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
