Gold's Gym will celebrate its 60th anniversary Monday at its famous Venice Beach location, known as the "Mecca of Bodybuilding," with a day-long event featuring fitness competitions, celebrity guests and a special Hall of Fame induction.

The celebration at Gold's Gym Venice, 360 Hampton Dr., will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include activities for members and the public.

Highlights include a question-and-answer session with Jay Cutler, four-time Mr. Olympia, and Mike O'Hearn, four-time Mr. Universe, scheduled for 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

The main event will be the Gold's Gym Hall of Fame induction of George Butler, author and filmmaker behind the documentary "Pumping Iron." The film highlighted bodybuilding culture, helped propel the sport into mainstream popularity and launched Arnold Schwarzenegger's film career. Butler's son will accept the honor on his behalf during the 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. ceremony.

The day will begin with a muscle car display from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by various activities including a deadlift competition from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and a posing exhibition from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Entertainment throughout the day includes a live DJ from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., games such as "ring the bell" and a Cold Life cold plunge dunk tank from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and food trucks with a smoothie bar from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Additional activities include a postcard booth, front door giveaways, pre-workout bar, candy bar and recovery demonstrations. The celebration will conclude with an anniversary toast and cake from 3:45 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Gold's Gym, which bills itself as "the world's most trusted fitness authority," has been a cornerstone of the bodybuilding community for six decades. The Venice location gained international fame as the training ground for legendary bodybuilders and remains a pilgrimage site for fitness enthusiasts worldwide.
