Google will serve as the official cloud provider and founding partner of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, supporting enhanced viewing experiences through NBCUniversal's coverage.
The partnership, announced Tuesday, will integrate Google technologies including Google Search, Google Cloud and AI tools like Gemini to connect fans, staff and athletes to the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
"This partnership is a testament to our commitment to innovation and delivering a technologically advanced, engaging and digitally accessible Games when we welcome the world in 2028," said LA28 Chairperson and President Casey Wasserman.
Google's technology will support more than 70,000 volunteers and workforce members helping welcome visitors to Los Angeles. The company will provide consumer and enterprise solutions to enhance the Games experience for millions of fans and athletes.
Through Google Search, Gemini and Google Cloud, the partnership brings AI technology to help fans discover information during NBCUniversal's coverage. NBCUniversal will also partner with YouTube to provide select Games content.
"With tools like Gemini and new Google Search features like AI Mode, it's easier than ever for people to find the information they're looking for," said Marvin Chow, Google's vice president of marketing. "Our partnership with LA28, Team USA, and NBCUniversal builds on our successful collaboration from last summer."
NBCUniversal Chairman of Global Advertising & Partnerships Mark Marshall said Google's "pioneering spirit" will combine with NBCU's content and community to deliver "a world class viewing experience for fans of all ages."
The LA28 Games will feature more than 15,000 athletes in a celebration spanning venues from the Pacific Ocean to Hollywood stages. Los Angeles will become the third city to host three Olympic Games, following 1932 and 1984, and will host its first Paralympic Games.
The Games will mark historic milestones, including becoming the first Olympics with more women athletes than men and the first since 1948 to build no new permanent infrastructure.
