# Gott's Roadside to open Santa Monica location Oct. 2

Gott's Roadside, the Northern California restaurant known for its modern take on American roadside classics, will open in Santa Monica on Oct. 2\. It will be the chain's second Southern California location and its first on the coast.

The restaurant is steps from the Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade. It follows Gott's Los Angeles debut at The Original Farmers Market earlier this year and will serve nearby communities including Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Venice Beach and Marina del Rey.

Gott's started as a roadside stand in Napa Valley in 1999 and has since won a James Beard Award.

"We're grateful for the warm welcome we've received from Angelenos and are very excited to join the Santa Monica community," said Clay Walker, president of Gott's Roadside. "With plenty of room for families, sports teams, neighbors, and beachgoers alike, we've designed our new Santa Monica location to be an easy choice for gathering over a great meal."

The restaurant has 6,600 square feet indoors and a 2,200-square-foot patio. BCV Architecture + Interiors designed it and Terra Nova Industries built it. It has more than a dozen community tables for seating up to 20 guests. The dining room has 14-foot floor-to-ceiling windows, and the patio has festival lighting, fans and heaters. Other features include native coastal landscaping, bicycle parking, a 5-foot-high EAT sign, red chairs, picnic tables and stroller-friendly aisles.

The menu ranges from burgers, chicken tenders and soft-serve to seasonal specials, seafood and salads. It includes vegetarian, flexitarian and gluten-free-friendly options. Suppliers include Cream Co. Meats, Red Bird Farms, Pacific Fresh Fish Co., Larder Baking Co. and California growers.

The wine list features Napa Valley vintners including Joel Gott Wines, Rombauer, Turley, Caymus and Opus One. Draft beers rotate among Tarantula Hill, Beachwood and Golden Road. Bottled and nonalcoholic beers come from Athletic Brewing and Best Day Brewing. The bar also serves low-alcohol margarita and paloma spritzes and Gott's signature Frosé. It runs the length of the dining room and offers full service to guests 21 and older.

A soft-serve counter offers Straus organic soft serve, Nounos frozen yogurt, sundaes and cookies baked on-site daily. A self-service kiosk in the dining room sits at a kid-friendly height.
