# Grammar police on patrol

As a long time and overlee critical reader, I am apaled at the Santa Monica Daily Press’s continued disregard for the American langwauiage. Are you not awhere of the unaxpetably low standard of Engrish grammir in your newspaper.

I have ritten letters to you’re staff writers on noomerous ocasions, correcting they’re grammir but with no response. I invest a lot of my busy time into righting these letters, time takin from feeding my 10 cats and crossing out names of the deceesed from the white pages. I advice the Santa Monica Dailie Press hire a copy righter. These gramatic errors - interchanging affect and effect; they’re, their and there; and it’s and its, should be a crime! A mister meter at the least.

For example, in Melodie Hanttanis March 28 article, “Teens get Physical (Ed),” she wrote, “a business that caters to a high-school aged audience, O2 Max Fitness opened its doors...” rather than “it’s doors,” which wood have been corrict because the apostrophe makes it possessive. It should be “Sandys shoes,” not “Sandy’s shoes.”

That is only a sample of what i have seen. I find there are errors in nearly everee articole I read, and that is without even trying, they are so blatant. You’re righters just don’t seem to kare, a lack of professionalsm. I find their are also errors in the columms. Is the editor not responsable for editting and removing the errors?

2F5,I wonder what the job kwalifications are to become a righter at the Dailee Press. From what I’ve understad, several of the righters have degrees in Engrish and print journalism. But where was dis degree attained? The University of Phoenix? ITT Tech?

Don’t u realize that most of you’re readers did learn basic Engrish grammir in skiool and are continually desgusted by the contiuned spelling errors in you’re paper. It will nevir be taken seriously by peoples who wint to excellent skools, like Devry’s Keller Graduate School, my alma matter.

I recommind that you perchase a dictionary for your righters.

Now your photographers, they have a true grasping of grammir. You should pay them more money and have them copyright.
