# Grant it: School’s been at it for a century

All former and current students, parents, teachers and volunteers are invited to participate in the celebration of Grant Elementary School’s 100-year birthday.

A Centennial Fiesta to help raise money for Grant will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 at 2368 Pearl Street. The Centennial Fiesta will be a chance for Grant community members to share stories and see old friends.

The event will offer rides, games and crafts for the whole family. Performances by Santa Monica Symphony, John Adams Jazz Band, JAMS Choral, Grant School Chorus and Grant School Folklorico will be featured.

During the event, a hospitality courtyard will provide a restful place to reconnect with friends and other Grant alumni. Grant's auditorium will be transformed into a living museum and reunion gallery featuring photographs of Grant School and Sunset Park over the past 100 years and a documentary with interviews of former Grant principals, parents and students.

All Grant alumni are encouraged to register at the Web site www.Grant100.com. Still needed are photos for the memory hall and historical presentations. E-mail with photographic memories and see them on display.
