# Habitat for Humanity Plans Four-Day Palisades Build for Wildfire Survivors

Nearly 18 months after the January 2025 wildfires, about three in four Pacific Palisades survivors remain displaced, and many families who want to return face financial barriers that could price them out of communities they have called home for decades.

To help close that gap, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles will bring hundreds of volunteers and partners together Sept. 23-26 for a four-day Community Build through its ReBUILD LA initiative. The effort coincides with Habitat for Humanity International's 50th anniversary.

Over four days, more than 500 volunteers, residents, corporate and civic leaders, entertainment and media partners, construction professionals and community organizations will work to restore homes and neighborhoods. Projects include rebuilding and repairing homes, landscaping, site clearing and broader revitalization efforts.

"The Palisades Fire devastated Los Angeles in January 2025 and captured the attention and concern of people across the country," said Erin Rank, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. "But Habitat understands long-term recovery requires sustained action even after the headlines fade." She said the build brings together a cross-section of Los Angeles to help the community heal.

Expected supporters include Joshua Jackson, Melissa Rivers, Bellamy Young, Haley Joel Osment, Karen Pittman, Julie Bowen, "Sugar" Ray Leonard, Quentin Lake, Cat Cora and Chandra Wilson, along with executives from Creative Artists Agency, FOX, the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Football Club, Los Angeles Rams, NBCUniversal, Paramount, The Rosenzweig Group, Samsung, Sony, United Talent Agency, The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. Discovery. Volunteers will assist residents at locations throughout Pacific Palisades and Malibu.

Partners and sponsors include Samsung Home Installation, which will fully outfit a home with new appliances, along with Airbnb, United Airlines, Wells Fargo, the Los Angeles Rams and others.

The Palisades fire burned more than 23,000 acres, destroyed nearly 7,000 structures and left entire communities changed. Families continue to face rising construction costs, insurance gaps and financial uncertainty. Among those often overlooked are hundreds of low-income households from Pacific Palisades and Malibu who lost their homes and remain displaced, Habitat LA said.
