DOWNTOWN — Bob Holbrook extended his narrow advantage over challenger Ted Winterer in the lone undecided City Council race on Friday, gaining ground to lead by 61 votes. Earlier this week Holbrook’s lead had been 42 votes.

The latest vote tally showed Holbrook with 12,696 votes, good for third-place in the race for three four-year council terms. Winterer, in fourth-place, had 12,635.

The update from Los Angeles County election officials Friday afternoon marked the first time since election night that Holbrook had increased his advantage over Winterer.

Election results aren’t expected to be certified until Nov. 30. It was unclear on Friday how many, if any, ballots remained to be counted.

Despite increasing his lead, Holbrook’s edge remained slight at .08 percent of votes cast in the contest.
