Identity theft suspect arrested in Santa Monica (crime watch)

On June 12 at approximately 8 p.m., a Santa Monica policeofficer was onthe 1800 block of16th Street when she observed and contacted a subject known to be on probation, Ryan Chamberlain, 20, of Santa Monica.

In a search of his belongings, the officer located two credit cards that did not belong to him. When initially questioned about the credit cards, Chamberlain said that he was holding one card for a manwho had gone to another country and that he had found the other. He admitted that he had tried to use the credit card a few times and that the transactions were declined.

The officer was able to locate information on one of the victims and confirmed that Chamberlain was not allowed to be in possession of her credit card. He was arrested for misappropriation of found property and identity theft. Bail was set at $50,000.
