# Illuminating wishes

Photo courtesy Jimmy Quaintance places the last of 6,000 blue light bulbs on the Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica Pier in preparation for “Blue Monday,” the kickoff of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles’ holiday season campaign, “A Season of Wishes.” Lighting on various Los Angeles landmarks will be changed to blue in support of the campaign, which promises to grant 100 additional wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. “Blue Monday” is today, and the wheel will turn blue for the first time at the ceremonial lighting event, complete with the granting of a child’s wish. The event will be set to music by the UCLA marching band, which will fill the Ferris wheel. The event is open to the public, and it costs $5 to park.
