The Santa Monica College Music Department continues its 2025 Fall Jazz Series with saxophonist, flutist and clarinetist Justo Almario performing Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Music Hall at the SMC Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street.
Admission is free with student ID. General admission tickets cost $10 plus service charges. Advance tickets may be purchased at smc.edu/tickets or by calling 310-434-3005 Monday through Friday during limited hours. Tickets are also available starting one hour before the performance at The Broad Stage Box Office. Free parking is available on premises, with seating on a first-arrival basis.
Almario blends jazz, Latin and soul music. A Berklee College of Music graduate, he was discovered by Mongo SantamarĂa and joined his band for a 1971 Jazz Workshop engagement. After touring as SantamarĂa's musical director, Almario moved to Los Angeles to record and tour with Roy Ayers' Ubiquity.
His career includes collaborations with Chaka Khan, Freddie Hubbard, Jennifer Lopez and Luis Miguel. He has contributed to film scores including "Dirty Dancing," "Happy Feet," "Rio" and "Sideways."
