Listen to the Life of Christ in Latin as Pomerium, a 14-member a capella group, belts out unaccompanied tunes at the Getty Center in the Harold M. Williams Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 3 p.m. on Oct. 20.

This religious revelry captures the reverence of Christ’s life while highlighting the fact that Latin makes even the most routine story sound more dramatic... especially if you don’t understand Latin.

Tickets are $25, $20 for students and seniors. Call (310) 440-7300.

Master of puppets

When Jim Henson started making puppets in the 1960s, no one questioned him. Contemporary puppeteer Erik Sanko knows his plight — he plays with dolls.

“The Fortune Teller” is Sanko’s creation. It will be performed at UCLA’s Freud Playhouse until Oct. 28\. For show times, contact the UCLA Central Ticket Office at (310) 825.2101.

With music composed by Danny Elfman and Erik Sanko, the performance should be a great one, no strings attached.

Heart wrenching drama

A play about triumph, reconciliation, healing and hope, "A Piece of my Heart," is now running at the Morgan-Wixson Theater. The heart wrenching drama tells the true story of six women: four nurses, a Red Cross volunteer and a USO entertainer who served in Vietnam during the Vietnam war.

All rolls are dual-cast with each character played by two women — a young women going to war and an older, wiser woman who comes home. Directed by Teresa Dowel-Vest, written by Shirley Lauro, "A Piece of My Heart" is based on the book by Keith Walker.

A special collection of Vietnam era photographs and letters from Vietnam war nurses and American Red Cross volunteers from the historical collection of the Santa Monica Red Cross is on display it the theater lobby during the run of the play.

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Mention the Red Cross when buying your ticket and the producers will make a $3 per ticket donation to the Santa Monica chapter. "A Piece of My Heart" runs through October 27th at the Morgan-Wixson Theater, 2627 Pico Blvd. For information, call (310) 828-7519 or visit www.morgan-wixson.org for tickets and group sales.
