After receiving almost 2000 applications from musicians in 88 countries for Kaleidoscope’s inaugural Instrumental and Vocal Competition in 2018, Kaleidoscope is happy to announce its 2019 competition, open to performers of any age and nationality. After initial selection via online video application, 12 finalists will be invited to Los Angeles to perform their repertoire in person in a live public final round on April 4th and 5th. 3 instrumentalists and 3 vocalists then will be awarded a combined $30,000 in prizes and performances with Kaleidoscope in their 6th season (2019-2020).
This represents a doubling of the scope of Kaleidoscope’s international competition from the previous year, which awarded $15,000 in prizes to three winners: Ekaterina Skliar, dormra; Dzmitry Ulasiuk, piano; and Andrea Obiso, violinist. Roundtrip travel expenses and housing for the 12 finalists will also be covered from anywhere in the world.
