“Know before you Go” is a weekly update on construction projects throughout Santa Monica. Here is a run-down of this week’s construction projects initiated by City Hall Airport Park and Airport Avenue improvements Site grading, constructing new artificial turf soccer fields, constructing new playground, restrooms and dog park area, and reconstructing a portion of Airport Avenue. On-site detour possible during street reconstruction. Civic Center parking structure Construction continues on a new 900-space Civic Center public parking structure, located on Fourth Street next to the Public Safety Facility. Construction will require the closure of the Fourth Street sidewalk. Lanes on southbound and northbound Fourth Street are subject to closure while work is occurring. There will be traffic control on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There also may be delays entering the Civic Center parking lot from Fourth Street entrance. Use the Main Street entrance. Emergency Southern Califorina Edison vault repair Southern California Edison has completed its repair and replacement of high-voltage underground cables in the downtown area. All streets and alleys are open through Labor Day, Sept. 4\. Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, the bus lane on Santa Monica Boulevard and the Second Street Court alley will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accommodate work crews and equipment. Also, on Monday, Sept. 11 through Saturday, Sept. 16, the bus lane on Santa Monica Boulevard and one lane on Broadway is subject to closure from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accommodate work crews and equipment. All parking structures are open and accessible to vehicles. Updates and changes will be posted as improvements continue. Fire serve installation The Santa Monica Water Resources Division is in the process of construction work on Main Street, between Pico Boulevard and Bay Street. Work conducted is for the purpose of supplying water for fire protection to the 150 Pico Blvd. property that is located at the southwest corner of Main Street and Pico Boulevard.
