LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles police hope video of a fight earlier this month on a Santa Monica Big Blue Bus will lead to identification of the man who slugged and critically injured a fellow passenger who stepped on his foot.

The attack captured on the vehicle’s security video shows punches being thrown between the two men. Victim Luis Contreras then falls backward through the bus door, hitting his head on the curb.

L.A. police Detective Luis Carranza tells City News Service Contreras has been hospitalized in critical condition since the April 5 fight and could die.

Anyone who recognizes the attacker is asked to call LAPD detectives.
