LA Health Services Earns National Recognition Despite Budget Challenges
Published:

LA Health Services received 28 Los Angeles County Productivity and Quality Awards this fall while facing its most challenging budget crisis, as federal changes impact healthcare funding sources.

The health system earned multiple national recognitions, including top hospital rankings from U.S. News & World Report. Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center was named the top rehabilitation hospital nationally and second in California, while Los Angeles General Medical Center achieved high-performing status for heart failure care and Olive View-UCLA Medical Center for maternity care.

Newsweek recognized LA Health Services as one of America's Greatest Workplaces for Diversity & Inclusion and by state. Olive View-UCLA Medical Center was named one of America's Best Maternity Hospitals for 2025.

Both Los Angeles General Medical Center and Rancho Los Amigos achieved Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a distinction held by fewer than 10% of hospitals nationwide. Los Angeles General Medical Center also received its third consecutive Leapfrog "A" Hospital Safety Grade.

Local awards included the Bronze Eagle Award for Safety Matters and 27 additional recognitions: one Commission Top Ten Award, five Commission Special Awards, 11 Special Merit Awards, four Traditional Awards and six Certificates of Recognition.

"These recognitions aren't just awards," said Dr. Christina Ghaly, Director of LA Health Services. "They are proof that mission-driven work can thrive under pressure — that compassion, skill, and dedication can overcome even the toughest challenges."

The achievements reflect the commitment of LA Health Services' 23,000-member workforce serving patients regardless of background or ability to pay.
