I have just finished reading Matthew Gibbons' letter published in the April 6-7, 2013 edition ("The bad old days").

I got choked up by its powerful force as I read it aloud to my wife who was born here and has similar memories of "the bad old days."

Thank you for publishing Matthew's letter.
