# Letter: Crazy commission

I think we need to change the name of the Airport Commission to something which is not so misleading ("Airport Commission recommends starving SMO," March 3). I thought commissions were generally groups who worked for the betterment of something they were supposed to represent. Can you imagine a police commission who advocated eliminating the police force and releasing all the people in jail or a coastal commission who wanted to dump toxic waste into the ocean?

The Airport Commission is nothing more than a group of property owners who want to enrich themselves by removing a property use which was there before them and was a contributing reason they could even afford to move there in the first place. In this spirit, why don't we have a housing commission composed of people who want to eliminate low-income housing and rent control. The idea is no less crazy that what we've got for the airport.
