Letter: Not pleased with parking meters

Published:

Editor:

Apart from the steeper parking costs around town, considerable civic goodwill has been lost with the greedy new parking meters. It's no longer possible to put a quarter in the meter for a stranger whose meter is about to expire or wait for a driver to get in position to take one's still full meter.

At a time when every job counts, there is still confusion on the part of citizenry and tourists regarding the parking structure payment machines with regularly stalled exit lines as proof.

I often wonder when in one of these lines how many times over the salary of a permanent employee at the exit would pay for itself in easing everyone out rather than the reality of stalled lines, lost time, inhaled fumes and frustration?
