Library Hosts Free Ukulele Concert and Sing-Along in June
Santa Monica Public Library will kick off summer with a free ukulele concert and sing-along on Saturday, June 7, from 2-3:15 p.m. at the Main Library's Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
The "Spring Fling * Summer Fun" event features Cali Rose and the CC Strummers, a Los Angeles-based musical group with an international following. The afternoon will include an eclectic mix of uplifting tunes, from "Don't Worry, Be Happy" to "Yellow Submarine," with hula dancing.
Music lovers of all ages are invited to play along, sing along or simply enjoy the performance. Attendees can bring their own ukulele, borrow one from the library while supplies last, or check out a Ukulele RED Kit with a Santa Monica Public Library card.
Those interested in receiving a PDF of song sheets in advance can email library@santamonica.gov.
The Main Library is wheelchair accessible and welcomes persons of all abilities. For special accommodations, call Library Administration at (310) 458-8600 at least one week prior to the event.
The library encourages sustainable transportation. Secure bike parking is available for cyclists, and visitors can ride the Big Blue Bus to the library. Trip planning is available at bigbluebus.com.
