Explore the high-profile spots where stars sat and cameras rolled.

Come for a free walking tour of historic Santa Monica film locations on Sunday, Aug 13\. The tour is based on the new movie buff’s travel guide to Southern California, “Hollywood Escapes,” by Harry Medved with Bruce Akiyama and published by St. Martin’s Press.

The event starts at Vidiots at 2:30 p.m. with a book-signing and a screening of clips from Santa Monica’s greatest hits — everything from “Mildred Pierce” to “Forrest Gump.” The walking tour departs from Vidiot’s at 4 p.m. to walk to the locations shown in the films. The walking tour ends at the Santa Monica Pier carousel, which served as Paul Newman’s hideout in “The Sting.” For more information, visit www.hollywoodescapes.com. South Africa revisited
