CITYWIDE — There are still two rounds to be played in the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section girls’ volleyball playoffs and four teams left in each divisional bracket, but no team from Santa Monica remains in the postseason.

Pacifica Christian lost to Bellarmine-Jefferson in their quarterfinal match on Saturday afternoon.

First-year Seawolves’ head coach Billy Allen led his girls to a first-place finish in the Heritage League after ending the season with a 23-7 record.

Pacifica Christian plays in CIF-SS Division 4-A. The girls swept both teams they faced in their first two round games — beating Desert and Duarte in three games last week.

But the Guards from Bellarmine-Jefferson were too tough — the winner of the weekend’s quarterfinal match will face Hemet High School on Tuesday in the semifinals.

The Lighthouse Christian Saints lost on Saturday in their quarterfinal match to Riverside Christian by a score of 1-3, with game scores of 19-25, 25-21, 17-25, and 17-25.

Head Coach Stephanie Sommer guided her team to a season ending 14-5 and had her team ranked No. 9 in CIF-SS Div. 5-AA final top-10 poll.

Coming into the postseason as the No. 2 seed from the Coastal League, the Saints came out strong by beating CAMS and Lone Pine in the first and second rounds last week before losing to a tough team from Riverside on Saturday.

Riverside will next face Sierra Canyon in the semifinals to be played on Tuesday – with the state championship finals set to be played at Cypress College over two days next weekend, Nov. 19 and 20.
