The City of Santa Monica experienced a massive civil unrest that included looting, arson, and vandalism. The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has been investigating these cases ever since. Through store surveillance footage, along with photos and videos that were sent to SMPD from onlookers, CID was able to identify a license plate number and discover the identity of an individual seen running out of the store with multiple items on hangers. On Thursday, September 3, Los Angeles resident, Shawanna Talley was arrested in connection to looting that took place at The Gap store, Talley was released on a $50,000 bail.
