\[Kenny Mack’s\] recent column attacking \[LAPD\] Chief \[Bill\] Bratton (“Putting a leash on the Paparazzi,” page 4, Aug. 6) is way out of line.

Carpetbagger? Is he profiting on the woes of the Southland celebrities?

Most everybody here is from some place else and using that to go after Chief Bratton, who has advanced degrees in law enforcement and is one of the great minds in his profession, is silly.

You want to spend police time and taxpayer money protecting immature celebrities from photographers? Paaalease \[sic\]!

As Bratton made perfectly clear in his appearance at the Dennis Zine celebrity love fest (that’s not a waste of tax payer money and municipal time?), there are over 40 laws on the books to protect citizens from aggressive photographers.

Call the police if it’s a problem. Don’t drive 90 miles an hour through a tunnel and careen into a wall. Use your brains don’t spew them all over the street.
