# Maintaining the carousel

As City Hall begins soliciting interested operators for the famous carousel on the Santa Monica Pier, it is hoping the current one — Roth Management — will stay around in the interim.

The council will be asked to approve a month-to-month extension of an existing contract with Roth Management for a period of six months. City officials in the mean-time plan to begin seeking operators for the carousel, which could again be Roth Management if a bid is submitted and granted.

The extension will cost approximately $84,450 or approximately $14,000 a month.
