Man knocks Santa Monica cyclist to the ground (crime watch)

On May 22 at about 9:27 a.m.,Santa Monica policeofficers responded to a report of a battery that just occurred in the area of Ocean and California avenues.

The victim told officers that while riding her bicycle she was thrown to the ground. She was unable to explain why the attack happened but said her attacker had been running in and out of traffic nearby, weaving around cars and acting strangely just before he accosted her.

She described the perpetrator as a black man,approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. Officers located the suspect in the 400 block of Palisades Park; the victim and a witness positively identified the detainee as the man who knocked the suspect off of her bike.

The suspect, Jahmar Maxwell, 30, homeless, was arrested for battery and booked into the Santa Monica jail. Bail was set at $20,000.
